Welcome to the online home of Nancy Prince, children’s book author and conservationist. Nancy is the author of Libby’s Loons, a story of a young girl who watches the extraordinary pair of birds and their brand new baby from her kayak and grows fascinated with the young chick learning to be a loon. As the loon family’s daily life develops through the seasons, Libby becomes determined to protect them.
Through Libby’s eyes, young readers will learn about these remarkable waterfowl and discover the inspiration to advocate for animals they love.
Nancy Prince lives in Wilton, Maine, where she has resided on Wilson Lake for most of her life. Libby’s adventures with the loons mirror her own experiences. An educator and conservationist, she facilitates school programs that promote awareness of the vulnerability of loons to interference from natural and human invasions of their habitat.
